Carlie K.:

Hello, hello friends. Welcome to another episode of the Praying Couple Podcast. We're your hosts Mike and Carly Kirchhoff. Today we're going to be praying a prayer about chronic disappointment. Now, before we get into it, we want to ask you this question. Have you ever felt yourself in a place where you just feel like you're always disappointed? Maybe you're disappointed in your relationship. Maybe you feel disappointment around a dream or desire that was in your heart that you felt like you had to let go. Maybe you feel disappointment in your relationship with God. Maybe you feel disappointment at your job or any other number of things. Disappointment is a very real thing, but what we want to get through to you today is that God and his power and his glory and his strength and his will for our lives is much more powerful than any disappointment that this life can bring. So today's prayer is going to be based off of Isaiah 40, 31 in the New King James Version. Mike, can you read that for us?

SPEAKER_01:

Yes. It says, But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Carlie K.:

Amen. That's good.

SPEAKER_01:

That is, I mean, right there, waiting upon the Lord. Yes, we all are going through things or we've gone through things. But God is saying in this that when we truly wait on him, he gives us supernatural strength, he gives us the courage, he gives us the wisdom, he gives us the peace. I'm not saying that life is easy or you're not gonna go through things where it seems painful, but God is saying when we wait on him, we trust in him, he gives us the strength, he gives us the confidence, he gives us our purpose as we go through things in life. And it's it's we have to remember not to replay those things in our head, yeah, into where there's condemnation or where there's unforgiveness. But we need to choose to say, you know what? I have experienced this, but my God is greater than this. I don't have to stay in that mindset, I don't have to stay in that mindset of things that might have happened 10, 15 years ago or even an hour ago. Yes, God wants us to continually trust and wait upon Him and allow Him to bring us through any storm we've gone through.

Carlie K.:

I love that. That's so good because you know, and there's some very key things within this verse. Those who wait on the Lord, not those who go ahead of his will, not those who complain, not those who are angry, not those who are disappointed, but those who wait on the Lord. So while we may feel these fleeting emotions at times, it's not a sin to be disappointed in something. It's okay. You know, we're constantly having to battle, you know, not leading to our own understanding, right? Not trying to put God's blessing or ask for God's blessing on our own agendas. That's the human struggle. Our flesh is always trying to get in the way. But what I love about God is that as we continue to wait on him, as we continue to do the things that he's asked of us, to pray, to meditate on his word, to speak his word, to obey his word as we do these things and we wait upon him. He will renew it. So you may feel weak right now, you may feel like, man, I don't know if I'm gonna ever make it through. But I'm here to tell you, brother, I'm here to tell you, sister, that you will renew your strength. God will renew your strength if you wait on him. So, hey, praise God too. I gotta throw this in there. They shall run and not be weary. Listen, I'm standing on that word for myself today because in the physical realm, that is not the case, but I'm believing it today by faith that I will begin to run again and not grow weary. Thank you, Jesus. Okay, Father, we're gonna kick this thing off in prayer. Uh, let's go. Father God, we just praise you, we worship you, we honor you, we bless your holy name. Father, we just thank you for the the opportunity to speak to you every day. We can come to you just like this, Father. We can pray, we can speak your word, we can connect with you, we can glorify your name. And it is such a beautiful experience of intimacy with our Heavenly Father as we come to you in prayer. Father God, today I'm praying over those, including myself and my husband and my family who have experienced seasons of chronic disappointment. Yes, I'm asking you on their behalf, Father, as they wait on you, that you will be faithful to perform your word, which tells them that you will renew their strength, that they will mount up with wings, God, like eagles. And we know eagles can fly through any storm. They don't run from things, God, they face it head on. Yes, I thank you, Father God, that you will let them run and not be weary, and you will let us walk and not faint, God. We will continue marching forward no matter what obstacles seem to be presenting themselves in our lives. God, help us to get out of the mindset and the heartbeat of disappointment and into the mindset of your word. What does the word of God say? This right here tells us today, God, that you will renew our strength. No matter how many times we're disappointed, you will renew our strength. No matter how many times we feel like we failed, God, you are right there to renew our strength. God, I'm asking you that you would just increase our understanding around this, God. Give us insight and wisdom for each individual listening to this prayer, praying along with us. I'm asking you to give us wisdom for our circumstances, God. We all love you, but we're all walking through different seasons at different times in this life. But your word remains true. It doesn't matter what season we're in, it doesn't matter what country we're in, it doesn't matter what time zone we live in, it doesn't matter what gender we are, it doesn't matter and nothing matters. The only thing that matters is that we wait on you because you are faithful, God. You are faithful to perform your word. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hallelujah. So, Father, we're just praising you that we are coming out of the season of chronic disappointment and that we are waiting on you. And as we wait, we are graciously thanking you in advance that you already have done it. You are renewing our strength right here, right now, in the name of Jesus. And we will continue to have food for uh just manna, God, the manna that we need, God, food to eat and bread, seed. Oh, I'm messing it all up, God, but you know exactly what I mean. And seed to sow. You are faithful to give us what we need, our daily bread, God. You are faithful. So, God, I just thank you right now that no more seasons of chronic disappointment, that we will rather than have seasons, God, we will have a moment or maybe we're disappointed, but we release that disappointment to you right now in the name of Jesus. We release it to you and we receive the renewal of our strength in exchange. In Jesus' mighty name, I praise you.

SPEAKER_01:

God, I just thank you, God, for you helping us get through chronic disappointment. Whether whatever it occurred, God, God, whether we're facing it currently, right now, God, we choose not to dwell on it. We choose not to complain, we choose not to murmur, we choose not to hold unforgiveness in our hearts towards others and even towards ourselves. God, we trust you, God, that you're able to make all grace abound. God, we choose to wait upon you. We don't choose to wait upon other people to do things for us or ourselves to do it in our own strength, but we choose to rely on you, God. I just pray for all of us that you will show us our purpose within all these things that we've experienced that appear as disappointment. But for you, God, you're able to help us to see above and beyond that. We thank you, God, like an eagle. They tend to fly above the storm. So, God, help us to continually wait upon you to trust in you, knowing that you know what's best for us. We don't even know what's best for us, but you do, God. You are faithful, you are just, God, we speak your word over our lives, over our situation. God, we know that your purpose for our lives is greater than what we even think or what we've even gone through. So, God, we know we make the choice right now to surrender these pains, these aches to you, knowing God, that you're able again, you're able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask, think, or even imagine. We thank you, God, that we're getting renewed strength even now. We thank you, God, for you giving us that desire to continually seek you, to continually speak your word over our lives. We thank you that your word does not return to you void. So we thank you, God, that we are experiencing your presence, we're experiencing breakthrough. God, we give it all to you. We are learning every day the importance of casting our cares upon you. We give you these desires, we give you these hurts, we give you these words that people might have spoken over our lives. We surrender it back to you, and God, we speak life over the situation, and we thank you that you are the God that is more than enough. So, God, we praise you for what you've done, what you're doing, and what you're about to do in our lives. And God, I ask this in Jesus' name.

Carlie K.:

Amen. Amen. Amen. That's so good. I just love how the power of prayer, it works, it works, and we want to encourage you today. No matter what you're facing, no matter what you're facing, that God's word is true. We cannot like brothers and sisters, we cannot afford to continue to live in places we don't belong. The children of God do not belong living in places of chronic disappointment. We do not belong living by our emotions. This is not where God has called us to be. This is not where he's designed us to be. That is not our kingdom assignment. We are overcomers, we are above and not beneath. Now we go through things and we have to figure things out. You know, we have to work out our salvation, is a better way to put it. It's not good when we try to figure it out because we don't know. We don't know. It's very obvious we know nothing unless he reveals it to us by his spirit. Yeah. But here's what I do know that when we allow the spirit of God to speak to us, when we prioritize him in our lives through things like this, through praying, yes, right, through conversations, through going to church, through worship, through speaking to other people, through ministering. You know, ministering to others is a beautiful way to encounter the presence of God and the spirit of God to work through us, being led forth by the spirit. So we're constantly learning how we can be obedient to the word. So we want to encourage you. If you haven't cracked open your Bible in a few years, that's okay. God forgives you, confess it as sin and move on, right? Rise up out of this season of chronic disappointment because that is not God's design for you. It is not his desire for you, it is not where you need to be. Friends, it's a choice. Yeah, we choose this day to serve the Lord, we choose this day to allow the Holy Spirit to be the voice that we listen to. Choose this day whom you will serve. And we encourage you that that that choice would be the Lord Jesus Christ. We we encourage you to speak the word to your circumstance until you believe it. Even if you lack the faith right now to believe it, it's okay because you will just continue to speak it, you guys. This is something that God has been getting to me for years. The kingdom is voice activated. We need to speak the word of God, and it activates his kingdom in our lives and on this earth. And that is our job, Saints. It is our job to do this. So again, we love you guys. And is there anything else you want to say?

SPEAKER_01:

And also to add to what Carly is saying, keep fighting. Like, don't don't give up. Amen. Don't give up. Keep pressing in. Keep believing what as many of you believe in God for many things. Keep believing in God, but don't get stuck in the circumstance. Amen. Keep pressing through.

Carlie K.:
