Hello, hello. Welcome back to another episode of the Praying Couple Podcast. We're your hosts Mike and Carly Kirchival. We're so excited to be here with you today. We're actually going to be praying a prayer against ungodly influences in your marriage covenant. So today, one of the things we wanted to kick this episode off with is the scripture that we find in 1 Corinthians 15 33 in the amplified version. Do not be deceived. Bad company corrupts good morals. Now I don't know how many times I've heard variations of this scripture. I've heard it preached from the pulpit. I've heard it said by parents. I've used it in my 20-something years of being a mother. But it's true.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:I think we've found more and more over the years that you know you can have a heart for God's people, but you have to be wise about who you let into your inner circle. That's right. Not just anybody can be a part of your covenant, not just anybody can have access to your covenant. So today we're going to pray about that. But Mike, you have a story from the Bible that goes a little bit deeper into the repercussions that happen when people do not heed to this wisdom.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, and this came with Lot. He was, you know, Abraham was his uncle, and it got to the point where Abraham, because Abraham's obedience, he was blessed beyond measure. And they had so many things, so many animals, so many cattle, that it got to the point where they both decided, hey, you go one direction and I'll go the other. So Lot chose to go to Sodom and Gomorrah. Now with Sodom and Gomorrah Gomorrah, it was an ungodly town. He was around ungodly influences. So imagine going from a person through Abraham's obedience, a godly atmosphere, accountability, mentorship, to now having a lot of money, but being around people that corrupted his character. He didn't have that accountability. He did all the partying, but what happened? Their influences, their ungodly influences began to take a toll on him, and it changed the trajectory of his family.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it infiltrated when we let the enemy have a foothold. The Bible tells us not to let Satan have a foothold. That's right. Not even just a place to put his foot. Don't give him an opening. Don't even crack the door. We are commanded to keep him out of our lives and our marriage covenant and our families and our businesses and everything that we do. So today we are praying a prayer against ungodly influences in our marriage covenants. Father God, we just praise you.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:We worship you. We honor you. We thank you for who you are. Yes. We thank you that you loved us so much that you sent your son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sin. Yes. You knew, God, that we would not ever be perfect. You knew that it wasn't even possible, but you still loved us enough to send your only begotten Son.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:My God, you are so faithful and so good, and we want to thank you for that. Father God, I just pray in the name of Jesus right now against ungodly influences in our marriage covenant. Yes. I pray, Father God, a wall of protection, the Holy Ghost fire protection around our marriage. I thank you that our marriage is hidden in Christ. It is saturated by the blood of Jesus Christ. That no one has access to this covenant but myself, my husband, and you.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:I pray, Father God, in the name of Jesus, for everyone listening under the sound of my voice, that you would do the very same for them.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, Father.
SPEAKER_00:That they would draw circles, circles around their marriage, circles around their covenant, Holy Ghost fire around their covenant, burning out every impurity, keeping out the workers of iniquity. Yes. I thank you, Father God, right now, that not only are ungodly influences being kept away from our covenants, but they are being kept away from our bloodline. Yes. I come against the lies of the enemy. I come against the curses of the enemy that have tried to come down from the top of the bloodline to where we are today. Yes. That have tried to infiltrate every generation and break apart marriages. While the enemy may have succeeded in times past, he will not succeed now. And he will not succeed again. I thank you, Father God, that you have given us weapons of warfare that are not carnal. That's right. They are spiritual to the pulling down of strongholds. So, God, right now in the name of Jesus, I come against any strongholds that may be holding some people captive as it relates to ungodly influences. I break any soul ties that people have because they think that they're innocent. They think, oh, hey, this is just my coworker. Oh, hey, this is just a friend. No, that person has been sent on assignment by the enemy. And right now I ask you to expose this.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:To expose every work of darkness that is trying to come after their covenant in the name of Jesus. I think that you are the father of light. Yes. You are the father of light. Every good and perfect gift flows from you, and there is light all around everything that you do. God, I just ask that you would open our eyes and our ears to your words. Yes. That we would hear Holy Spirit clearly. Anything that does not glorify you, any influences in our life that do not glorify you, that you would reveal them to us, and that we would have the strength and the wherewithal and the wisdom to remove them permanently in the name of Jesus.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:I thank you, Father God, that loving you above everything else is what we're here to do. We are created to worship you. I thank you that the marriage covenant is a type and a shadow of our relationship with you. Yes. God, I just ask that you continue to model for us the things that you would have us to do and say as it relates to these situations. If we notice an ungodly influence in our spouse's life, give us the grace, the love, the mercy, the wisdom, the right timing to bring it up and to burn it out together.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:To get them out together, to chase the enemy together. One could put a thousand to flight, but two can put ten thousand. I pray also, Father God, in the name of Jesus, thanking you for the power of your word. Yes. When we speak the word, we know that it does not return void. Not because we have any power, but because we have faith in you. We have faith in you to perform your word. So, God, again, I come against every ungodly influence in the name of Jesus. May it be exposed, may it be taken care of, rooted out, and destroyed forever. May every marriage be glorified by your name.
SPEAKER_01:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:May we glorify you by our actions. Yes. And may we continue to speak loudly for the kingdom of heaven because we make right choices in the name of Jesus. We praise you.
SPEAKER_01:God, I pray for your people that you give us discernment to recognize ungodly influences. Thank you, Lord. Help us to not compromise. Help us to not make decisions that does not honor you. Yes. Just to uh receive approval or respect from other people that are not godly, that don't know you, that doesn't have a covenant with you at all. Give us that discernment to know and to stand up for what's right, to not compromise in our convictions. Yes. God, I also pray for your people that you will help your people maintain holy conversations despite being around ungodly influences, whether it's at the workplace, whether it's at schools, even within the church. Help us help your people to have God holy conversations, to speak forth your word, to not compromise, to not give in, to not make up excuses, but to truly set clear standards and boundaries, letting people know that we serve you. Yes. God, I also pray for your for your people that you help us to make a stand against ungodliness. Help us to not compromise. Help us to truly stand on your word. And I thank you, God, that you have sent us, you have sent us to make a difference in the lives of those around us. That that people will know that there's something different about us, that they will instantly get convicted, that they will instantly sense your presence and feel your love. So, God, I just thank you right now, even in our marriage, in our relationship with you, that we choose not to follow or adhere to any ungodly influences. Thank you, God, that even as things come up, that by the power of the Holy Spirit, that you will convict us and that you will show us, you'll bring to light the discernment that we need to continually do what's right. We thank you for your presence. We thank you for your power. We thank you for your grace. We cannot recognize or do anything without you. Yes. So we ask that by the power of the Holy Spirit, that you will continually convict us and that you will help us to not compromise in ungodliness. And I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus.
SPEAKER_00:Amen.
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_00:This is awesome. I think one of the biggest lessons that we are commissioned and commanded to teach others is to walk in the light. Yes. Right? To to put Christ first. His light is everywhere, right? But we have to align ourselves with that light. And I love that his word is a lamp unto our feet. So I just pray for anyone out there right now. I just encourage you, and our prayer for you is that you will continue to stay in God's word. That's right. That you will pray every day, as often as possible. Prayer doesn't have to be anything fancy. Prayer doesn't have to be you having the right words or, you know, being within a church building. Like that's great. We pray at church, we pray on the street, we pray in the car, we pray in our bed, we pray in the shower, we pray at the store. It doesn't matter where we are, we are constantly praying. Yes. Not in a way that glorifies us. It could be very silently. A lot of times nobody has any clue we're praying. We're just walking around the neighborhood praying. We're walking around wherever we're at, praying, decreeing, and declaring the word of God. Because it is the most powerful tool that we have. So we just want to encourage you to stay planted, rooted, and grounded in the word. Yes. No matter what discouraging circumstances may come your way. Trust and know and understand that that does not change that God's word is truth. Yes. No circumstance should ever be able to move us and ever take away our faith. Because our faith in God is all we have as believers. If we don't have faith, we don't have anything. So we just want to encourage you to can remain faithful in that and to love each other as you love God. If you haven't already, we encourage you to subscribe to the podcast. You can easily do so.
